Yes you think you know about everything but the matter of fact is that you don’t. Dropbox changed its logo and the changes were so subtle that people did not notice the difference. I mean why would you do that? If i own a company and change the logo or go for re-branding I would like people to know about it. I would make it blingy and make it stand out. What is Dropbox on about? The Dropbox subtle logo change went completely unnoticed.
The box image on the logo remains the same while the font is not changed. The color shade may seem the same but it is different too. The old one was #007ee5 and is now #1d81e2. Designers know what I am going on about here. Don’t worry if you did not understand what i did there. All you need to know is that both the shades may seem to look the same but they are not the same. The difference may be minimal but there is a difference indeed.
I was never a huge fan of the old logo but i do think that the new one is much cleaner and looks a bit better. It can be possible that the company did not want people to notice the change I mean we have seen this before. Facebook did something similar previously and now Dropbox is doing the same. I am still not clear why this is happening. When Google got a makeover they made it clear that it was in fact a new logo and that they were re-branding.
Still the Dropbox subtle logo change went completely unnoticed. Now that we have noticed it after all we shall see what designers and critics have to say about the ninja-like developments.
