Lytro the camera making company has just announced that it is jumping into the virtual reality world with their new product called Immerge. Lytro plans to focus on the cinematic virtual reality more than anything else. With this new product what the firm wants to introduce is a solution for making real live virtual reality. In this article we covered Immerge for cinematic virtual reality by lytro and the future of the company as we know it.
According to the CEO of the company, Lytro will keep on supporting its older camera products but it is now going towards virtual reality as it seems to be where the future of the company is. The cinematic virtual reality solution has been created from scratch and will help other companies to find their way into the field of virtual reality. The rig design is composed of rings where sensors and cameras are placed. The idea is to get data and record it from all directions so that when you are in the VR simulation you can look up and down and side to side seamlessly.
This idea could support movement but for now there are no such projects and the viewer is standing still so that he or she does not stumble upon something and fall down. As stupid as it may sound this is a big problem when it comes to VR gear and headsets.
The output of the camera is compatible with all the big names in the market, HTC, Sony and even Oculus. The specifications will be released in 2016 after testing and final formalities are done with. It is safe to say that when Immerge finally comes out it won’t be cheap. Looking at the people this product is targeted at, we don’t expect it to be either.
This was all about Immerge for cinematic virtual reality by Lytro and the future of the company. This will be a big step forward for the company and it is a clever one.
